Technology Recommendations

Only the departments listed have technology requirements; if the department is not listed, it does not have a technology requirement.  

Foundation / Animation / Graphic Design / Illustration / Product Design

Apple/Mac Requirements: 
 M4 or newer chip (newer chip means longer before your laptop will be
out of date)
 14 or 16 inch (Your preference)
 Color (Your preference)
 The standard “M” chip is fine. The “Pro” or “Max” chips will
improve performance but not necessary.
 1TB SSD Storage

PC Laptop Requirements For KCAI:
HP, Dell, or Lenovo brand names are suggested but not
required
 13th gen Intel I7/I9 or newer CPU or AMD Ryzen Zen 9000
 16GB ram minimum (32GB ram if using Adobe Premiere
Pro/After Effects)
 512GB minimum Solid State Hard drive (SSD)
 NVIDIA/Intel/AMD Graphics card (GPU)

Software:

All Departments: Adobe Creative Cloud (this will be provided by KCAI before the start of the semester)

Foundation Only:  Digital (DSLR) or Mirrorless Camera (Recommended)

Animation Only: Minimum 1TB external Hard Drive, Wacom Drawing Tablet

Graphic Design Only (recommended): 1TB external Hard Drive, Wacom Drawing Tablet, USB C to HDMI adapter, mirrorless digital camera

Illustration Only: Wacom or any pen tablet, USB C to HDMI adapter, 1TB external Hard Drive

Product Design Only: External mouse (wired or Bluetooth) with scroll wheel, 1TB external Hard Drive
