Description

Professional Practice for the Studio Artist is a lecture course designed to help students focus their professional goals, develop relevant documents (artist statement, bio, resumรฉ, professional correspondence), research opportunities and activate networks, practice interviewing and public speaking, consider strategies for portfolio development, archiving and dissemination, and frame possibilities for work and life after graduation. Students will finish the course with the necessary tools to build a creative career while considering regional, national and/or international opportunities. Students will be evaluated based on their engagement with the course content and projects, their professionalism (timeliness, attendance, meeting deadlines, participation), the quality and reach of their research, the degree of completeness of their work. All projects will be shaped to support each studentโ€™s interests and professional ambitions.
