Description

The students? core interests are the starting point for this studio. Individualized focus and conversation will help frame a drawing-based discourse exploring both reference and process. This studio will act as a research and development laboratory, with group discussion and critique embedded in the everyday process. Ideas will be developed through the making process and tested through interactions with peers and guests.
A series of short readings will act as initial prompts for the exploration of a variety of drawing processes meant to build an agility for students in translating the conceptual towards the visual and haptic, and back again, spiraling into unknown territory. Articles and essays with topics ranging from science and history to urban planning and infrastructure will provoke new frames of reference as starting points.
