Description

[Prerequisite: FIBR 220 or FIBRE 348] This course introduces the student to the expanded vocabulary of weaving. Compound structures and advanced drafting methods will be covered. Students are expected to have a working knowledge of the Fiberworks PCW drafting software. Special attention will be given to finishing techniques and fiber selection. Designs will be woven by hand on standard floor looms, Mechanical 16 Harness Dobby looms and Computer Dobby looms. After Students complete the intermediate portion of the course, they have the option to apply their understanding of structure using the TC-2 Jacquard Loom. Pointcarre Software is introduced to develop designs as well as program the loom.
