Description

[Social Practice minor] Students will explore the world of remade design and the subject of sustainability. Utilizing for example rag houses or thrift stores as their main materials source, students will strip down pre-existing textiles, rebuilding them into new pieces. Re-contexualizing items, through acquiring, sketching, pattern-making, draping, and sewing will be taught during the entire design process as students reconfigure their recycled materials into new forms. This class will give insight into the concepts of remade design, leaving students with essential information to help them excel as artists in the alternative production movement.
