Description
In this reading- and writing-intensive course, we will read and write fiction, exploring various elements of narrative technique, including plot, setting, character, conflict, symbol, style, tone, image, and point of view. We will closely read a number of short stories, study fictionβs role in cultural memory and observe and respond to its ability to form fantastic worlds of uncharted realities. Students will participate in intensive writing experiments, revision of material, and peer critique, to develop a substantial body of original work.
