Description

This primary focus of this studio class will be to create powerfully evocative environment/background design through developing time based projects inspired by Magical Realism. Magical Realism is a type of art that is influenced by fantastical elements yet is grounded in day-to-day life. It frames the uncanny and the unfamiliar in a package that is, on the surface, familiar and accessible in context with the culture in which it is produced. Exploring this genre can open a path to discover one’s place in the world and to realize what power an artist can wield. Students will also improve their technical skills in rendering environments through practical drawing exercises.
