This course unpacks the cultural and technological forces, artists, studios, and events that drove the worldwide reinvention of animation after 1960. Students will be presented with a comprehensive overview of animation history via immersion, scholarship, and discourse. The goal of the course is to empower students with the ability to decipher and use the contextual roadmap historical perspective provides. Course structure: lectures, screenings, and discussions.
