This survey course traces the origins and contributions of the early pioneers who established animation as an art form and commercial entertainment industry during the first half of the 20th century. Students will be guided through a comprehensive and immersive introduction to this period in an effort to expand their historical awareness of the mediumβs context and cultural impact. Course structure: lectures, screenings and readings.
