Description

[G/C] This course focuses on the art, altars and performance found in the Maroon cultures of Suriname, CandomblΓ©, and Umbanda practitioners in Brazil, Santeria in Cuba, Voodoo in Haiti, Rastafarianism in Jamaica, and folk artists of the southern United States, as well as international contemporary artists continuing these traditions and addressing issues like cultural identity in their art.
