Description

[Ancient/Medieval] This course consists of an historical and analytical examination of the architecture of the ancient cultures, primarily of the West. We will briefly touch on the Neolithic cultures of Anatolia and Israel and then move onto the significant contributions made by the Egyptians, Minoans, Mycenaeans, Greeks, Romans and the Early Christians. Emphasis will be placed on the engineering, materials, design, meaning and function of architecture in each culture.
