Description
This class will examine collaboration and the role it plays in contemporary fine art. Students will discuss different examples of artists, artist groups, and their adjacent practices as they relate to collaboration as a content development tool. With drawing as a central starting spot, through group discussions and student research, students will investigate collaboration as a dynamic agent in constructing new methodologies and entry points for artistic exploration, community building, and platform amplification. The class will start out relying on prompts modeled after examples from collaborative artists and artist groups and will include four projects - the first being gameplay, the second reality construction, and the third institutional critique. The fourth and final project will give students the opportunity to create their own group structures/methodology for collaboration. The class will explore collaborative artist groups such as Surrealist, Dada, Fluxes, Royal Art Lodge, Los C
