Description
This course will explore the history of American art and culture from the colonial period to the close of the 19th century. Lectures will analyze how forms of Native American art and European art affected the development of American architecture, sculpture, painting, printmaking, the decorative arts, photography and the early cinema. Equal consideration will be given to the rise of post- Revolutionary American artistsβ involvement in established international art movements such as Romanticism, Realism and Impressionism.
