Description

[Ancient/Medieval] Creativity and constant change form the hallmarks of ancient Greek art and architecture. We explore the dynamic development of art and architecture in the Greek world from the 2000 to 1 B.C.β€”the palace of Minos, the ruins of Santorini, the citadel of Mycenae, the Parthenon of Athens and the Great Altar at Pergamon. Further, we evaluate the impact of gender (Amazons, Medusa, and more), the economy, foreign connections, and warfare on Greek imagery. Visits to the Nelson-Atkins enhance our understanding of the Greek accomplishment.
